But I’ve learned through cancer you do need a hand. From something as simple as having friends sign up to deliver meals post surgery, to as big as having a gofundme in order to get help paying for insurance after losing your job . https://www.gofundme.com/24qjc
I’ve needed help getting to appointments when I’ve been too weak and sick to drive. Assistance with getting dressed. Getting out of the tub. A back rub when I ached all over from treatment. Alfred gives great back rubs when anxiety has me by the throat and I feel like I’m going to lose my mind.
We all need assistance at some point in life. As an independent , stubborn, headstrong person it’s been difficult. Every time I’ve landed in the hospital my frustration is high because I was so sick that even using the restroom required a tech.
I have also learned there are people who truly want to help and for others it’s lip service. That’s one of the reasons it’s difficult to actually ASK for help. You don’t want to put anyone on the spot !! But those who truly want to help oftentimes do so without asking.
Thank you all for your help and love in this journey.
